Hello!

I'm a graphic designer, motion graphics artist, & photographer located in Tampa, Florida.

I'm currently employed by Nexstar Media Group as a graphics manager for our Florida based operations in Tampa & Sarasota. Creating for news outlets such as News Channel 8 (NBC), The CW Tampa Bay, and The Suncoast News Network.

Beyond my role at Nexstar, I also work as a freelance wedding photographer under the brand Monocle Weddings, which I run with my mentor of many years Trevor Barlow.

  • Nexstar is America’s largest local television and media company with around 200 broadcast stations in over 110 markets across the country. Remarkably, a substantial 68% of households nationwide are captivated by Nexstar's content, often without conscious awareness of its presence in their lives.

At our Downtown Tampa office, we take pride in being among Nexstar's most substantial and thriving stations. Our operations encompass three channels, namely WFLA, WTTA, and WSNN. These channels serve as beacons of local news and entertainment, passionately engaging our audience within the Tampa Bay area and beyond.

  • In the fast-paced setting of News Channel 8, I hold the position of graphics manager.

At Channel 8 we do a little bit of everything, mirroring the responsibilities of an agency. I’ve worked with the station since 2020, slowly gaining in responsibilities until eventually changing rank to graphics manager.

A typical day in my role is marked by a wide spectrum of creative responsibilities. I develop brand identities for new shows, spanning both traditional and streaming formats. I engage in the production of print materials encompassing brochures, vehicle wraps, business cards, maps, signage, billboards, stadium elements, and more.

In the digital space I create motion elements for daily news broadcasts and commercials. I contribute to the creation of social media and web graphics, including web advertisements and social media posts.

In the community, we design for events. Including expos, meet & greets, stadium graphics, and more.

As a photographer, I art direct shoots for both our video & photographic needs. Dressing the sets & considering backgrounds. Pulling from my experience as a wedding photographer to think quickly.

More specifically to news, I maintenance our in-house graphics systems, creating new templates, installing / adjusting templates from Nexstar’s corporate design center and more. These programs include Ross Xpression, Lyric X, Prime, etc.

In my position as graphics manager, I continue my training for art direction, mirroring many of an art director’s tasks. Encouraging the team & creating organizational structures to encourage their success. I also work with external agencies to ensure production of printed materials & collaborative work.

  • Formerly known as Great 38, we underwent a significant transition, officially becoming The CW Tampa Bay effective September 1st, 2023. The CW Tampa Bay’s operations are fully integrated within our Downtown Tampa office, in conjunction with News Channel 8.

In this capacity, we extend our expertise in graphic design services, mirroring the same level of commitment and creativity provided to Channel 8, but with a distinct and customized visual approach tailored to The CW's brand identity. Our aim is to create within The CW's unique visual framework, ensuring a cohesive and engaging viewer experience.

Working with CW is unique since we share parent company Nexstar Media Group with the affiliate. We work closely with our CW team to create for broadcast, print, and more.

  • Referred to as SNN, the Suncoast News Network represents the latest inclusion in our expanding network of Florida-based stations. Situated in Sarasota, we offer SNN the same creative services as Channel 8.

SNN offers a unique experience to me in my capacity as graphics manager since it create the challenge of managing from a distance. This experience has allowed me to see things from a perspective more similar to our design center, having to put my full trust in local employees to complete tasks & relay information back to our main home base.

  • Within Monocle, my role extends beyond the lens, encompassing a wide array of vital tasks on the backend. These responsibilities encompass the management of our brand identity, the editing process, and the strategic orchestration of our social media presence.

Monocle is the sophistication of timeless professionalism in photography. Working more weddings than he can count spanning across two continents, it’s an honor to now share the opperatons of this company with Trevor.

  • I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the University of Central Florida (UCF). During my tenure at UCF, I actively engaged in two internship experiences, both of which contributed to my professional growth.

One standout internship was at Limbitless Solutions, where I held the role of a Motion Graphics Intern. This experience provided me with a unique platform to delve into my passion for enhancing accessibility within the realm of design. I am grateful for the knowledge and skills I acquired during my time at Limbitless, and I encourage you to explore their work as well.

  • Even as a child, I had a strange interest in designing power points and observing the environmental design in retailers. However, my middle school provided a class called “wheel,” a rotating elective that formally introduced me to design in 2009. Once I hit the “Graphic Arts” rotation, I never turned back.

After a few years of having a special accommodation to the rotating elective to take graphics year round rather than rotating into robotics at the midway point, I had a well rounded portfolio to apply to Nature Coast Technical for Hernando’s only High School design program.

Obsessed with weekly circulars, I saw an opportunity to make my passion a career through the retail designers I looked up to & applied to UCF using the portfolio from my Highschool courses. Where again, I was accepted to continue my studies.

During my time at UCF, my skillset took a turn with an immediate affinity for After Effects. I was invited to apply to Limitless where I furthered my knowledge of motion.

This addition to my toolkit landed me my first full-time design position despite the Covid-19 Pandemic. I launched into the news space at full speed as an essential employee during the Pandemic.

After a few years of being at Channel 8, I had proved myself to be a strong member of the team, quoted by my manager as being the equivalent of 3 people. I enrolled in Nexstar’s 6 month mentorship program to train for a leadership position. Within a month of “graduation”, God’s timing opened an opportunity for me to continue my training right here in Tampa Bay.
